Phillip Bryant (left) of Opelika, Ala., and Russell Dunaway (right) of Graceville, Fla., were elected to the PowerSouth Board of Trustees during the Cooperative's Oct. 24 board meeting.
Bryant represents Tallapoosa River EC (TREC), replacing Gerald Shirah, who passed away Sept. 22. He served on the PowerSouth Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2014. He has served as a board member for TREC for more than 12 years.
“It is an honor to serve on the PowerSouth board, and I will continue to act in our members’ best interests to ensure reliable and affordable energy for our communities,” said Bryant.
Bryant received Cooperative Board Leadership Certification from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. He is retired from the Alabama Forestry Commission. He serves as an elder at the 10th Street Church of Christ in Opelika.
He and his wife, Dianne, have two children, Megan and Hilary.
Dunaway represents West Florida EC on PowerSouth’s board, replacing Bill Rimes.
“It is an honor to serve the members of West Florida EC, as well as PowerSouth, as a member of the board of trustees,” Dunaway said. “I strongly believe in what we do within the cooperative system, and I hope to contribute positively to the organization as a whole.”
Dunaway has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church.
He and his wife, Kathy, reside in Graceville, Fla.
